Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni commands 89% trader consensus as Benin's next president, driven by his close alliance with incumbent Patrice Talon and role as presumed successor ahead of the 2026 election. Talon's coalition dominated recent legislative races, reinforcing institutional control and limiting opposition viability through strict candidacy rules upheld by the constitutional court. Paul Hounkpè trails at 10%, buoyed by his political experience but hampered by fragmented opposition dynamics. Recent polls and analyst assessments highlight Wadagni's lead in early surveys, though uncertainties persist around potential legal challenges or turnout in this single-round system. Markets reflect crowd wisdom on continuity amid Benin's evolving electoral landscape.
