Rep. Tom Barrett (R), who narrowly flipped Michigan's competitive 7th Congressional District in 2024, faces heightened vulnerability after recent reports revealed his campaign and allied committees paid over $50,000 to firms employing his wife for consulting and legal services, drawing fire from Democrats and fueling ethical concerns. A fresh poll shows Democrat William Lawrence leading the crowded primary field at 45% among informed voters, signaling a motivated challenger slate including ex-Ambassador Bridget Brink. This battleground seat, rated a top Democratic target amid midterm dynamics favoring the out-party, has traders pricing a party-line Democratic victory at 86%, with the August 4 primaries as the next key milestone.
