Magdalena Andersson leads the Social Democrats, Sweden’s largest party, which tops recent polling averages ahead of the September 13 parliamentary election and positions her as the consensus choice for prime minister if the centre-left bloc secures a majority. Incumbent Ulf Kristersson’s right-wing coalition has trailed in surveys for months on issues including cost of living, crime, and energy, though the latest polls show the gap narrowing to a few points. Preferred-prime-minister surveys have consistently shown Andersson well ahead of Kristersson and Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson. Minor-party figures such as Ebba Busch, Nooshi Dadgostar, and Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist register negligible support because their parties lack the seats or alliances needed to form government. Traders therefore assign Andersson the dominant probability based on the current bloc standings and limited time remaining before voters decide.
