Romuald Wadagni, Benin's Finance Minister and ruling coalition's unanimous candidate succeeding term-limited President Patrice Talon, commands 97.2% trader consensus ahead of the April 12 presidential election, driven by recent consolidation of endorsements from most parties—including near-full backing despite holdouts from a few minor groups like PCB and RE—and his campaign launch unveiling a continuity-focused societal vision. Paul Hounkpè, the lone opposition contender from FC BE, trails at 2.5% amid Talon's decade-long control over the political landscape, which has sidelined rivals through eligibility rules. While the majority's incumbency advantage and unified front underpin this dominance, shifts could arise from late-breaking scandals, health issues, electoral disputes, or unexpected opposition mobilization in the final days.
