Ramzan Kadyrov continues serving as head of the Chechen Republic despite persistent rumors of kidney failure and hospitalization circulating since January, which have spurred Kremlin preparations for a managed succession to preserve North Caucasus stability amid Russia's Ukraine war. Trader consensus reflects low near-term removal odds, buoyed by Kadyrov's February pledge to run for re-election if endorsed by Vladimir Putin and a March 25 video of his son Adam addressing the republic's Security Council, debunking mid-January accident reports. No verified leadership change has occurred in the past 30 days, though health uncertainties and family positioning signal potential transition risks by year-end.
