Cool spring conditions, influenced by a weak high-pressure ridge, aligned closely with pre-event ensemble forecasts from ECMWF and GFS models clustering at 13-15°C—above the early April climatological average of 12-13°C max but below recent March highs exceeding 19°C. This skin-in-the-game positioning reflects firm observational data; realistic challenges would require rare Met Office revisions to provisional records, unlikely given standardized measurement protocols at official sites.
