Incumbent Prime Minister Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured 29 seats in the March 22, 2026, parliamentary elections under Slovenia's proportional representation system, narrowly topping Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party at 28 seats in a hung parliament requiring 46 for a majority, positioning Golob as the trader-favored next prime minister at 71% implied probability. Golob launched coalition talks with leaders of five parties on March 27, signaling potential outlines by April 10 ahead of the National Assembly's constitutive session, leveraging his status as largest-party leader for the president's likely first mandate. Janša's close second sustains 20% odds amid right-leaning bloc possibilities (43 seats total), while Anže Logar's Democrats (6 seats) hold 3.3% as a potential partner; confirmed foreign election interference adds uncertainty but favors Golob's incumbency edge historically.
