This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Republican Party to contest the GA-01 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The Republican primary will take place on May 19, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Republican sources, including https://rnc.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.James Kingston holds trader consensus at 45% implied probability to win the open GA-01 Republican primary after Rep. Buddy Carter's U.S. Senate bid created the vacancy, driven by his early fundraising dominance surpassing $1 million and a recent $53,000 ad spend supporting him by Georgia First Action PAC. Retired Lt. Col. Brian Montgomery trails at 35%, gaining traction through West Point credentials, combat veteran status, and visibility at recent forums like Long County's Chamber of Commerce event, with another Effingham County forum set for March 30. Among 15 qualified candidates, the rest lag due to lower name recognition; key endorsements and coastal Georgia turnout will shape the May 19 outcome in this competitive race.
