Ramzan Kadyrov remains firmly entrenched as head of the Chechen Republic, continuing his role as a key Kremlin loyalist despite recurrent health rumors, including reports of kidney failure and hospitalizations in early January 2026. He publicly dismissed speculation by appearing in Grozny on March 18 and has rejected Ukraine peace talks, urging the war's continuation, while signaling willingness to run for re-election on February 17 under certain conditions. Succession discussions intensify around family members like son Adam or figures such as Apti Alaudinov, amid Kremlin efforts to ensure stability in the North Caucasus. No verified resignation or removal has occurred, with traders weighing his recent activity against ongoing uncertainty and potential procedural changes in regional leadership transitions.
