Waymo's expansion to Austin, Texas, anchors trader sentiment for new city launches by June 30, with implied probabilities hovering around 60-70% for public robotaxi service there following Alphabet's March announcement of imminent rollout after initial employee testing. Confirmed operations now span Phoenix, San Francisco (fully public since March), and Los Angeles (open to all users as of May), but Austin hinges on final regulatory nods from Texas authorities amid spotted autonomous Jaguar I-PACE fleets. Atlanta's Uber partnership, unveiled in May, eyes late-2024 debut, missing the deadline, while Miami remains in mapping phase. Competitive pressures from Cruise's recovery and Tesla's August robotaxi event add urgency, though Waymo's 2.5x trip growth in Q1 signals momentum—watch for operational updates before quarter-end.

Any taxi service available to the general public which operates without a human driver actively controlling the vehicle will count, regardless of membership or other financial restrictions.
A qualifying launch requires the general public be able to hail a Waymo vehicle within the listed city \ through the Waymo One app or another official Waymo platform (such as a dedicated website or integrated partner app like Uber).
Limited pilot programs, internal employee testing, or invite-only service will not qualify.
The primary resolution source is official information from Waymo (see: https://waymo.com/rides/c), however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
