Trader sentiment on U.K. annual CPI inflation for 2026 reflects a tight contest between 4.5%+ (37%) and 4.0–4.4% (34.5%) outcomes, driven by escalating geopolitical risks from the Iran conflict spiking energy prices and offsetting earlier disinflationary forces. February 2026 CPI held steady at 3.0% year-over-year, with core measures ticking up to 3.2%, while wage growth eased to a five-year low of 3.8% in Q1. The Bank of England's March Monetary Policy Committee unanimously held Bank Rate at 3.75%, raising its Q3 forecast to 3.5% amid higher oil and gas costs, aligning with surging public long-term expectations at 4.5%. March CPI data, due soon, could sway the balance toward stickier inflation above the 2% target.
