Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors incumbent Prime Minister Beinir Johannesen at 69% implied probability to remain Løgmaður following the Faroe Islands' April 29, 2024, parliamentary election, where his Union Party secured the largest bloc of nine seats in the 33-seat Løgting. No party won a majority, thrusting coalition negotiations to the forefront, with Johannesen advancing talks with the People's Party (led by Bárður á Steig Nielsen, 3.6%) and Centre Party (Ruth Vang, 4.2%) for a potential centre-right alliance. Social Democrat leader Aksel V. Johannesen trails at 21.5% as the primary alternative, given his party's eight seats and prior governing experience. Recent developments include stalled multi-party discussions reported in early October, heightening uncertainty ahead of possible snap talks or elections, while smaller players like Høgni Hoydal (5%) and Jenis av Rana (3%) linger as wildcard influencers.
