This market will resolve according to the winner of the Democratic primary election for the mayor of Washington D.C., scheduled to be held June 16, 2026. If no 2026 D.C. Democratic Mayoral Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the D.C. Democratic Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George holds a narrow trader consensus lead at 48% implied probability in the 2026 Democratic D.C. mayoral primary, ahead of former Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie at 31%, as both solidify frontrunner status to succeed incumbent Muriel Bowser amid her low prospects. Mid-March candidate forums, including tense Anacostia and Free DC clashes over Pepco utility costs, public safety measures like juvenile curfews, housing affordability, and experience levels, have intensified scrutiny of their policy contrasts and galvanized early support. McDuffie's April 1 endorsement from former Council Chair Linda Cropp highlights his coalition-building record, while Lewis George's recent housing expansion plan drew backing from Greater Greater Washington. With petitions submitted by late March ahead of the June 16 primary, momentum in battleground wards and voter turnout remain pivotal.
