South Carolina's longstanding Republican dominance in gubernatorial races, unbroken since Democrat Jim Hodges left office in 2003, anchors trader consensus at 87.5% for a GOP winner in the November 2026 general election. The latest co/efficient poll (March 26-27) reveals a fragmented Republican primary field ahead of the June 9 contest, with Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette leading at 19%, Rep. Nancy Mace at 18%, Attorney General Alan Wilson at 15%, Rep. Ralph Norman at 13%, and 30% undecided among likely voters, signaling an open race as candidate filing nears its close. Democrats trail at 11.5% amid a sparse primary field and scant polling, underscoring the steep path against the state's deep-red partisan lean.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
