Preliminary FlightAware data tallied approximately 5,470 US flight delays (15+ minutes) on March 30, anchoring trader consensus at 99.1% for the 5,000-5,500 bin amid routine operations without major storms or ground stops plaguing earlier March dates. Ongoing partial DHS shutdown into day 45 continued pressuring TSA staffing and security lines at hubs like Chicago O'Hare and LaGuardia, yet total disruptions stayed within seasonal norms averaging 5,600 daily. FAA reports noted minor wind risks at New York and Philadelphia airports but no systemic issues. This commanding lead reflects trackers' proven alignment with final DOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics figures; rare challenges could arise from late-reported delays, definitional disputes, or audit revisions pushing counts above 5,500.
