Trader consensus favors Democrats at 68% to flip Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District, driven by a fresh House Majority PAC poll released April 3 showing Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti leading incumbent Rep. Rob Bresnahan 45%-43% in a prospective general election matchup. Cognetti, the Democratic primary frontrunner with strong fundraising ($1.1 million raised) and Gov. Josh Shapiro's endorsement, faces nominal opposition from Eric Stone ahead of the May 19 primaries, while Bresnahan runs unopposed for renomination despite raising $3 million. The district's R+4 partisan lean and Bresnahan's narrow 2024 win highlight its battleground status, but recent generic ballot polls favoring Democrats and reports of incumbent stumbles have boosted flip probabilities, diverging from Cook Political's Lean R rating.
