Trader consensus heavily favors the Republican Party at 91% to win Indiana's 4th Congressional District House seat, driven by the district's strong R+15 Cook Partisan Voting Index—ranking among the most Republican-leaning nationwide—and consistent Solid Republican ratings from Cook Political Report and others. Incumbent Jim Baird, a Trump-endorsed Vietnam veteran who secured 65% in his 2024 primary and 65% in the general, filed for re-election in January 2026 after recovering from a January car accident, facing State Rep. Craig Haggard and minor challengers ahead of the May 5 primary. With no competitive Democratic field or polling suggesting an upset, historical dominance persists. Late shifts could arise from a primary loss yielding a weakened nominee, scandal, health issues, or an extreme national Democratic wave overcoming the partisan math.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
