General elections are scheduled to be held in the Faroe Islands on 26 March 2026. This market will resolve to the individual who is formally appointed as Løgmaður (Prime Minister) of the Faroe Islands following the 2026 Faroese general election. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed as Løgmaður following the 2026 Faroese general election. Any interim or caretaker head of government will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister is appointed by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of the Faroe Islands; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Beinir Johannesen's commanding 97.8% implied probability stems from his People's Party securing the most seats (9) in the March 26 Løgting election, its strongest showing since 1990, amid the collapse of the prior Social Democratic-led coalition under his uncle, Aksel V. Johannesen. All party leaders endorsed Johannesen as formateur on March 28, prompting his resignation as outgoing Løgmaður and tasking him with coalition talks, which began March 30 targeting a stable 22-seat ABC alliance with the Union Party and Social Democrats ahead of the April 10 deadline. Trader consensus reflects this momentum in the unicameral parliament's government formation process, though prolonged negotiations over issues like housing shortages or the Suðuroy tunnel could pivot to alternatives like a narrower People's-Union-Centre pact excluding him.
