OpenAI's blockbuster $122 billion funding round, closed March 31 at an $852 billion post-money valuation—the largest in Silicon Valley history—bolsters pre-IPO momentum, providing ample capital amid projected $121 billion in 2028 compute spending and enterprise revenue growth to match consumer by year-end. However, CFO Sarah Friar's recent doubts on 2026 readiness, citing organizational hurdles, have surfaced internal tensions with CEO Sam Altman's Q4 listing push, injecting caution into trader sentiment. High cash burn expectations and AI competition temper valuation uplift potential, with key thresholds like $800 billion–$1 trillion in focus. Upcoming S-1 filing preparations and Wall Street bank talks will shape resolution dynamics.
