Recent national polls showing Democratic advantages on the generic congressional ballot, coupled with elevated voter enthusiasm—74% of Democrats reporting high interest versus 61% of Republicans—have concentrated trader consensus on 115-125 million votes for the 2026 House midterms, exceeding 2022's 108 million but echoing 2018's near-118 million amid President Trump's low-40s approval ratings. Record Democratic primary turnout in Texas on March 3, surpassing Republicans by nearly 7% or 100,000 votes, underscores mobilization potential in battleground states, yet Republican base response remains uncertain, keeping top outcomes tightly clustered within 1 percentage point. Upcoming primaries, special election results like Florida Democratic flips, and shifts in economic sentiment or foreign policy tensions could widen separations.
