Recent polls showing Democratic challenger Missy Cotter Smasal leading incumbent Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans by 4-5 points have solidified trader consensus at 77% for a Democratic victory in Virginia's competitive 2nd Congressional District. Emerson College's October 24-27 survey pegged Smasal at 48% to Kiggans' 44%, echoing Roanoke College's October 17-22 results of 46%-43%, amid strong early voting turnout in Hampton Roads battlegrounds. Kiggans' 2022 win by 5 points in this R+4 leaning district faces headwinds from local priorities like abortion rights—bolstered by Virginia's ballot amendment—and military family concerns, though Election Day on November 5 could hinge on undecideds and turnout in swing precincts.
