This market will resolve according to the winner of the Republican Primary for Governor of Michigan, scheduled to take place on August 4, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Michigan Gubernatorial Republican Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Michigan Republican Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.A recent JMC Analytics poll of likely Republican primary voters shows U.S. Rep. John James leading businessman Perry Johnson 23%-20%—with 44% undecided—reflecting Johnson's surge via TV ads targeting James, aggressive campaigning in James' Macomb County base, and a bold proposal to eliminate Michigan's state income tax, which resonates with base voters despite budget concerns. Traders price James as the frontrunner at 44.5% implied probability, buoyed by his congressional name recognition, strong favorables (+41), and established fundraising, while Johnson's self-funded momentum has lifted him to 26.5% amid a fragmented field featuring Aric Nesbitt, Joyce Gipson, and Evan Space. High undecideds signal volatility ahead of the April filing deadline and August primary.
