Incumbent Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon's strong reelection bid in the D+15 leaning PA-05 district, encompassing suburban Delaware County, anchors trader consensus heavily favoring the Democratic Party. Scanlon, who secured 65% victories in 2022 and 2024 general elections, faces low-profile primary challengers Melvin Campbell and Melvin Prince Johnakin ahead of the May 19 contest, while Republicans pit Joshua Brown against Nick Manganaro with minimal fundraising. Forecasters like Cook Political Report rate the seat Solid Democratic, reflecting district fundamentals and incumbency advantages amid no recent scandals or shifts. Upsets remain possible via a surprise GOP nominee surge post-primary, personal issues for Scanlon, or a national Republican midterm wave.
