Incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer's commanding lead in New Jersey's 5th Congressional District anchors trader consensus at 81.5% for the Democratic Party, driven by consistent double-digit polling advantages over Republican nominee Mary Jo Murphy. Recent Emerson College polling (October 2024) shows Gottheimer up 52%-38%, bolstered by his $11 million fundraising haul versus Murphy's under $1 million, and strong suburban voter support in Bergen and Passaic counties. Nonpartisan ratings from Cook Political Report label the seat Safe Democratic, unchanged post-June primaries amid no disruptive scandals or shifts. Traders weigh low upset potential in this R+3 PVI district ahead of November 5, reflecting Gottheimer's history of 55%+ victories.
