Trader consensus overwhelmingly favors under 2.6 million TSA checkpoint screenings on March 28 at 98% implied probability, driven by the escalating government shutdown crisis now over 40 days old, with TSA officer absences hitting 40-50%, over 450 resignations, and security lines stretching four hours at major hubs like Atlanta and Houston. This chaos has spurred widespread flight cancellations—prompting airline waivers—and deterred travelers amid peak spring break demand, as evidenced by fluctuating recent volumes: 2.72 million on March 26 but dipping to 2.38 million on March 25 and 2.19 million on March 24. Saturdays often see lighter traffic post-weekday peaks, reinforcing the sub-2.6 million positioning. An upset would require an unforeseen surge in resilient holiday flyers overriding disruptions, though historical weekend patterns and current cancellations make this unlikely before data releases early next week.
