Trader consensus heavily favors Democrats at 93.5% for the 2026 Hawaii gubernatorial election, driven by incumbent Governor Josh Green's recent filing of nomination papers on April 2, confirming his re-election bid in a state that has not elected a Republican governor since 2006. Green's 56% approval rating, bolstered by his handling of the 2023 wildfires, provides a strong incumbency advantage amid Hawaii's Democratic dominance and lack of declared Republican challengers. The August 8 primaries loom, but no serious primary threats have emerged. Scenarios that could shift odds include a major scandal, Green's health issues, an unexpected Democratic primary upset, or a high-profile GOP recruit capitalizing on national trends.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
