Mercedes' George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli lead trader consensus for the 2026 F1 Drivers' Championship at 43.5% and 35.3% implied probabilities, reflecting the team's dominant start under new regulations with superior engine and suspension performance. Antonelli seized the world drivers' championship lead after back-to-back victories in China—ignoring a team order to hold off Russell—and Japan at Suzuka, where he claimed pole by 0.026s, fastest lap, and crossed the chequered flag first for his second career win. Russell's Australian Grand Prix triumph and consistent podiums underscore his experience edge, while rivals like Verstappen, Norris, and Leclerc trail amid Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari's early pace deficits, keeping the Mercedes intra-team battle central to title odds.
