Mercedes teammates George Russell and Kimi Antonelli dominate trader consensus for the 2026 F1 Drivers' Championship, reflecting their stranglehold on early-season podiums amid new regulations favoring the Silver Arrows' superior qualifying pace and racecraft. Antonelli seized the championship lead with 72 points after back-to-back victories at the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix—his second win at Suzuka just 24 hours ago—closing the gap on Russell's Australian GP opener triumph, where Mercedes locked out 1-2. Russell's experience and consistency, including no major errors versus Antonelli's occasional early-season incidents, sustain his slight edge in implied probabilities despite trailing by nine points. Trailing rivals like Charles Leclerc (third at 49 points) face steeper climbs with inferior car pace, evident in Red Bull and McLaren's sparse points hauls.
