Entering the second round of the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio's demanding Oaks Course, trader consensus clusters implied probabilities around 25% for sponsor exemptions and mid-tier contenders Zach Bauchou, Matt McCarty, Max McGreevy, J.T. Poston, Ricky Castillo, A.J. Ewart, and David Lipsky, signaling a wide-open race after Round 1's bunched leaderboard. Bauchou fired a 68 (-4) to tie for 11th, buoyed by strong ball-striking amid windy conditions that punished errant approaches, while others like Poston (even par) and McGreevy (-1) lurk with solid strokes gained putting. Pre-tournament favorites Ludvig Aberg (-4, T11) and Tommy Fleetwood (-5, T4) trail in pricing due to inconsistent approach play, underscoring the field's volatility and value in dark horses with Oaks Course affinity before Masters week.
