Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors independent Noel Thomas at 34% implied probability to win the Galway West by-election, buoyed by his strong local profile and anti-establishment appeal in a fragmented field lacking a clear frontrunner. Labour's Helen Ogbu trails at 23%, leveraging party organization and urban voter outreach, while Fine Gael's Seán Kyne and Green-backed Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich share 13% each, appealing to traditional and progressive bases respectively. Recent opinion polls underscore vote splitting among independents and smaller parties, with Thomas gaining from direct canvassing momentum. Consolidation could hinge on last-minute endorsements, turnout among rural voters, or second-preference transfers under Ireland's PR-STV system ahead of the vote.
