Democrats hold a commanding position in the 2026 Colorado gubernatorial race following a recent Magellan Strategies poll showing a generic Democrat leading Republican 50-38, reinforcing Cook Political Report's Solid D rating for this open seat succeeding term-limited Gov. Jared Polis. High-profile Democratic contenders U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and Attorney General Phil Weiser dominate their primary per Global Strategy Group data, bolstered by Bennet's fundraising lead and endorsements, while Republicans face a fragmented field amid recent shake-ups: Joe Oltmann withdrew for state party chair, John Brooks entered late, and Colorado Pols assigns top GOP hopefuls Victor Marx and Barbara Kirkmeyer just 20% general election chances each. Trader consensus at 93% for Democrat reflects these dynamics ahead of June 30 primaries, though a consolidated GOP nominee, Democratic scandal, or national midterm wave could shift odds.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
