Ongoing TSA staffing shortages amid the government shutdown have suppressed checkpoint throughput to an average 2.45 million passengers over the past 10 days, including April 1, 2026's 2.36 million (-10% YoY), anchoring trader consensus below 3.0 million for April 4 at 60.5% implied probability on Polymarket. Record wait times topping four hours—exacerbated by 40% staff callouts—have deterred demand, with surveys showing one-third of Americans delaying spring trips despite Airlines for America’s 2.8 million daily forecast. Easter Sunday (April 5) proximity bolsters the 3.0-3.2 million bin at 41%, but recent sub-2.8 million peaks signal persistent caution ahead of April 2-3 releases.
