California's 6th congressional district remains a Democratic-leaning seat following recent redistricting, with incumbent Representative Ami Bera opting to run in the neighboring district and leaving an open race. Multiple Democratic candidates, including former state senator Richard Pan and public affairs executive Lauren Babb Tomlinson, are competing in the June 2 top-two primary against independent former Republican Kevin Kiley. The district's suburban voter base and historical performance have produced trader consensus around a Democratic general election victory in November, though a Kiley primary advance combined with national midterm shifts or turnout variations could still influence the outcome.
