This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump as President of the United States formally nominates Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense by January 31, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".

Formal nominations are defined as the submission of a nomination message to the U.S. Senate.

The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the US Senate (see: https://www.senate.gov/legislative/nominations_new.htm) however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Pete Hegseth ceases to be the US Secretary of Defense for any period of time between December 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.

An announcement of Hegseth's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect.

The US will be considered to strike Iran if the US initiates a drone, missile, or air strike on Iranian soil or any official Iranian embassy or consulate.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by US military forces that impact Iranian ground territory or any official Iranian embassy or consulate (e.g., if a weapons depot on Iranian soil is hit by an US missile, this would qualify).
