Polymarket traders price a mere 9.5% implied probability of Costco raising its iconic $1.50 hot dog combo price before 2027, reflecting deep conviction in the retailer's unwavering loss-leader strategy. CFO Richard Galanti reaffirmed this commitment during the September 26, 2024 earnings call, stating the price—unchanged since 1985—will remain stable "for a very long time," subsidized by robust membership fee revenue and traffic-driving economics amid 2.4% food-at-home inflation. Costco's consistent execution reinforces this consensus. Realistic challenges include severe supply chain disruptions, margin erosion from sustained high input costs, or post-Galanti leadership changes, though no such catalysts loom before resolution.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the price of a standard Costco hot dog and 20 oz soda combo before tax exceeds $1.50 in any Costco store in the United States by December 31, 2026, 11:59PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to "No".
If Costco announces they will increase the price, this market will resolve to "Yes" regardless of whether that change is actually implemented.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Costco, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
