Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's extended pretrial detention on insurrection and abuse-of-power charges, following repeated bail denials by Seoul courts, anchors trader consensus at 93.8% against his release before 2027. The Constitutional Court upheld his impeachment on January 14, 2025, stripping his immunity and paving the way for his January 15 arrest at the Seoul Detention Center. Prosecutors indicted him on January 26 for rebellion-related offenses carrying potential life sentences, with his first trial hearing set for late February amid prolonged proceedings typical of high-profile cases. Recent rulings extending custody through March underscore slim prospects for early freedom, reflecting traders' assessment of sustained legal pressure and political accountability.

If Yoon is released but remains under house arrest, the market will still resolve to "Yes".
If Yoon is released on parole, bond, or any other condition that results in them leaving state custody, the market will resolve to "Yes".
Transporting Yoon to another location of custody (e.g., a different prison, court, or hospital within the correctional system) will not suffice to resolve this market to "Yes".
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from government authorities or corrections departments; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
