Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni at 87.5% implied probability to become Benin's next president in the April 2026 election, driven by incumbent President Patrice Talon's strong backing and control over key institutions like the Constitutional Court. Wadagni's successful stewardship of economic reforms, including growth amid global challenges, bolsters his position as the continuity candidate within Talon's Couffo party. Opposition leader Paul Hounkpè holds 12.5%, reflecting his prominence in the Union Makes the Nation alliance and past electoral showings, though recent parliamentary electoral law changes—tightening candidate requirements—have tilted the field toward ruling party allies. No major polls have emerged, but Talon's machine dominance sustains Wadagni's lead ahead of nominations.
