Mercedes teammates Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell lead trader consensus for fastest lap at Suzuka after dominating FP1 with a 1-2 finish—Russell's 1:31.666 benchmark just 0.026s ahead of Antonelli—while Piastri's FP2 best of 1:30.133 placed Antonelli P2 and Russell P3, all within 0.2s on soft tires. This tight practice pace, amid Mercedes' strong long-run simulations and championship-leading form, keeps the top probabilities bunched at 32.5% Antonelli and 31% Russell, with Hamilton (21.5%) buoyed by team momentum despite P6 in FP2. McLaren's Norris (16%) and Piastri (10.3%) trail on slightly inferior race pace, highlighting the fine margins in qualifying trim and clean air potential for the grand prix.
