Mike Dunleavy's term limit opens a crowded nonpartisan top-four primary on August 18, where the top four advance to the ranked-choice general election, fragmenting the Republican field among over a dozen candidates including ex-Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson, Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom, ex-Attorney General Treg Taylor, and businesswoman Bernadette Wilson. Democrat Tom Begich leads the latest Lake Research Partners primary poll (April 4, 2026) at 38%, building on his February showing of 22% amid strong early fundraising across top contenders reported February 18.
