Matt McCarty holds a narrow one-stroke lead at 15-under after firing a second-round 63 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, fueling his trader consensus edge at 44%, but Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen's birdie binge to reach 14-under and steady play from Michael Kim and Ryo Hisatsune at 13-under keep the top of the leaderboard tightly bunched. These mid-tier contenders surged with hot irons and putters on the firm, fast Memorial Park layout over the past 48 hours, while pre-tournament favorites like Sam Burns and Brooks Koepka stumbled with even-par or worse rounds amid windy conditions. Entering the weekend, low scores remain possible given calm forecasts and the field's depth, with no clear dominator in strokes gained metrics or course history separating the leaders.
