Trader consensus overwhelmingly favors Kevin Warsh for confirmation as Federal Reserve Chair, reflecting reports from Trump transition sources that the president-elect has settled on him as the nominee to succeed Jerome Powell, whose term expires in May 2026. Warsh, a former Fed governor and Stanford Hoover fellow aligned with Trump's push for looser monetary policy, emerged as the frontrunner following Axios and Bloomberg disclosures on December 5-6 indicating interviews with other candidates like Scott Bessent yielded no alternatives. With Republicans holding a 53-47 Senate majority, confirmation appears straightforward barring holds from moderates or unexpected shifts, though Trump could pivot on late-breaking advice, scandals, or economic data influencing nomination timing ahead of hearings.

Formal confirmation as Chair of the Federal Reserve requires the Senate to confirm a nominee as Chair of the Federal Reserve. Recess appointments without Senate confirmation will not count. Senate confirmation of a listed individual as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors will not alone qualify.
If no Senate confirmation for the position of Chair of the Federal Reserve has occurred by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
The primary resolution source for this market is official information from the U.S. Senate; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
