Persistent rumors of Ramzan Kadyrov's declining health, including kidney failure reports from January 2026, continue to fuel speculation about his tenure as Head of the Chechen Republic, though he made a public appearance on March 18 amid the chatter and recently directed Kadyrovite forces to signal readiness for potential intervention in Iran against U.S. ground operations. Succession discussions have shifted toward his son Akhmat over younger brother Adam, per recent reporting, as the Kremlin eyes stability in the restive region. No resignation, detention, or removal has occurred, with traders weighing ongoing health risks against Kadyrov's loyalty to Moscow and control over Chechen security forces; no major scheduled events like parliamentary votes or Kremlin announcements loom in the near term to force a leadership change.
