Alaska’s August 18 nonpartisan top-four primary uses a blanket ballot in which the four highest vote-getters advance to a ranked-choice general election. Seventeen candidates are competing for the open seat left by term-limited Republican incumbent Mike Dunleavy. Recent polling averages place Democrat Tom Begich in a clear lead near 40 percent, with Republican candidates Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Click Bishop clustered in the mid-teens and Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins also showing measurable support. Early in-person and absentee voting began August 3, with roughly 10,000 absentee requests filed. Campaigns have collectively raised nearly $9 million, with Begich and Kreiss-Tomkins posting the strongest in-state small-dollar totals. Trader pricing on Polymarket aligns closely with these surveys, assigning the highest implied probabilities to Begich and the next tier of established names. No major late developments have altered the field since filing closed in June.
