This market will resolve according to the winner of the Democratic Primary for Governor of Rhode Island, scheduled to take place on September 8, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Rhode Island Gubernatorial Democratic Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Rhode Island Democratic Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Helena Foulkes holds a commanding lead in Rhode Island’s September 9 Democratic gubernatorial primary, driven by consistent double-digit polling margins, a broad edge in local party endorsements, and incumbent Dan McKee’s low favorability ratings. Recent University of New Hampshire polling showed Foulkes at 42% support among likely Democratic primary voters against McKee’s 22%, with 31% undecided, while McKee’s statewide job approval sits near 19%. Foulkes has secured endorsements from a majority of municipal Democratic committees, including McKee’s hometown of Cumberland, plus backing from Attorney General Peter Neronha and several state legislators; the state party and AFL-CIO declined to endorse either candidate. McKee has narrowed the gap modestly through attack ads but trails significantly in fundraising. Minor candidates such as Gregory Stevens register negligible support. With early voting underway, a late shift in undecided voters or unforeseen developments could still alter the outcome before primary day.
