Lys holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their 2022 Lausanne clay qualifier win but returns rusty from a knee injury that sidelined her for weeks, withdrawing from Indian Wells and posting a 1-3 YTD mark capped by a Miami first-round loss to Yuliia Starodubtseva 10 days ago. Volynets benefits from home-country support in her quadrant alongside top seed Jessica Pegula, though both players' hard-court preferences may test clay adaptation amid favorable early-spring conditions.
