Anthropic's steady cadence of Claude 4.x refinements, capped by the April 16, 2026 launch of Opus 4.7 with gains in advanced coding, higher-resolution vision, and long-running tasks, has shaped trader views on a delayed Claude 5 debut. The company continues emphasizing incremental improvements and agentic features over a full generational shift, while leaks referencing internal models like "Mythos" and early-2026 speculation around a Sonnet 5 variant fuel expectations for a Q2–Q3 2026 window. Competitive pressure from other frontier labs and Anthropic's focus on reliable, developer-centric large language models add uncertainty, with prediction markets highlighting the risk that timelines could slip due to technical or strategic priorities.
