Any replacement of the nominees before election day will not change the resolution of the market.Hilda Solis, a longtime Los Angeles County supervisor, holds a commanding position in the June 2 top-two primary for the newly redrawn California 38th Congressional District after securing the state Democratic Party endorsement and announcing her candidacy well before Proposition 50 redistricting took effect. The district’s strong Democratic tilt favors party-backed candidates in a field that also includes Democratic councilmember Erik Lutz, Mayor Pro Tem Monica Sanchez, and Republican Pedro Casas. With filing closed in March and the primary less than two weeks away, vote fragmentation among Democrats could determine whether a second Democrat or the lone Republican advances alongside Solis to the November general election. Trader consensus reflects Solis’s fundraising and institutional support as the decisive near-term factors.
