Rules

Additional context

Updated May 23

A rules clarification will be posted at 7:00 PM ET, May 23, 2024.

The SEC approved eight proposals to list and trade Ethereum ETFs per the May 23 filing here (https://www.sec.gov/files/tm/lk87adfs99.pdf), concluding that the proposals "hereby are approved on an accelerated basis." Thus this market will resolve to "Yes."

This market will resolve to "Yes" if any spot Ethereum ETF receives approval from the SEC by May 31, 2024, 11:59:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".

The primary resolution source for this market will be information from the SEC, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This market is all about time. The fact that ETF "will" eventually be approved does not mean that it will be approved by May 31st. Polymarket team has to be responsible for creating a market will so ambiguous rule. So disappointed to their cowardness

Former U.S. SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said approval of trading in spot Ethereum ETFs would be inevitable, having received approval to list, but approval of the products themselves is still pending, with the expectation that the funds could begin trading in July or August. Source theblock

Congratz to all believers (especially before May 20). Well earned. I voted No, but I agree with the outcome.

McDonalds-Employee

Agree with the outcome? The Ethereum ETF is not yet approved, who knows, might not even get approved till August, but they resolved every all ETH ETF markets to yes for no reason.

Dispute this. form 19b-4 is just a amendement. Official registration form S-1 is not approved whats going on here

The result of this bet is incorrect! ETH ETF has not yet been approved. It needs the S-1 documents approval i first to be tradable. I want to dispute this result!

James Seyffart: "TO BE CLEAR: This does not mean they will begin trading tomorrow. This is just 19b-4 approval. Also needs to be an approval on the S-1 documents which is going to take time. We’re expecting it to take a couple weeks but could take longer. Should know more within a week or so!"

lol, ETF is approved but you guy still find a way to tell ETF os not approved

Think it ultimately ended up being an expedient resolution, and a bit of a scammy resolution.

It makes sense to require a bail like this. Otherwise everything would be disputed. For the guys with 100 or 200k bets it should be a nobrainer and a clear +ev play to dispute it!

The best resolution would be to make it a 50/50 split and clarify that the rules were not sufficient to select a clear winner.

How convenient that the additional context just mentions half the sentence of the SEC. The full sentence is: "IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED, pursuant to Section 19(b)(2) of the Exchange Act, that the Proposals be, and hereby are, approved on an accelerated basis." This clearly indicates that the approval pertains specifically to the proposals under Section 19(b)(2) and does not encompass the entire approval process for the ETF.

"the proposals" are 8 etf products, that they are approving

for all you who have no shares and are salty: bring the rules of the market and polymarket's resolution to ANY SAT/GMAT verbal professor and see what they say. Hint: everyone will agree with polymarket, because it's basic reading comprehension

Rule clarification didn't clarify rules, they proposed a resolution. That verbiage is biased and untrue. If you read the sec.pdf linked the word approved is only listed in it once, and it's about rule changes. Not the approval of the entire ETF process?

InNeedof10x

11mo ago

I think it should resolve to 50/50. Clearly, the market was ill-worded and the additional context should have been posted right after the discussion started. I admit that for people who don't know much about the listing process, it could be seen as approved, but from a regulatory perspective, it is clearly not.

Outcome: Yes
