Trever Nehls, identical twin brother of retiring Rep. Troy Nehls, secured the Republican nomination for Texas' 22nd Congressional District with a 76% landslide in the March primary, solidifying the GOP's hold on this open seat rated Solid Republican by Cook Political Report (R+9 partisan voting index). The district's suburban Houston exurbs have delivered reliable Republican margins in recent cycles, bolstered by Nehls' fundraising edge—over $108,000 raised versus Democratic nominee Marquette Greene-Scott's $36,000 as of early 2026. With no public polling indicating competitiveness and Greene-Scott's fragmented 55% primary win, traders price an 87% implied probability on a GOP victory ahead of the November 3 general election.
