This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Department of Homeland Security shutdown which began on February 14, 2026 lasts for at least the listed number of days, inclusive of the beginning and ending dates. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The end date of the shut down will be determined by the date on which the funding bill required to reopen the Department of Homeland Security is signed by the President or otherwise enacted. The announcement of an impending reopen will not qualify. The resolution sources for this market will be information from official U.S. Government sources and a consensus of credible reporting. The partial Department of Homeland Security shutdown, triggered by the February 14, 2026, lapse in FY2026 appropriations without a continuing resolution, has stretched beyond 50 days—the longest in U.S. history—due to partisan deadlock over ICE and CBP reforms. House Republicans have blocked Senate-passed funding bills amid GOP fractures, including Senate Leader Thune's reported push against Speaker Johnson, while Democrats blame Republican intransigence. President Trump's recent executive order to pay all DHS employees, including TSA officers facing airport chaos, has eased worker hardship but not resolved the impasse. Traders watch for a potential House vote this week, with reconciliation talks or a clean CR as paths forward amid mounting political pressure.
